"White Eagle" was the title of honor given to Willard Scott, a pioneer Naperville settler and founding father, by the Pottawattomi Indians who came to northern Illinois about 1720. An East Coast native, Scott established residence in this area as a young man of 22. Around 1830, Scott and his parents opened a trading post along the DuPage River, about three miles south of present-day Naperville.

The spectacularly beautiful land that Willard Scott adopted and made his home became a primarily agricultural community, comprising some of the richest corn-growing land in Illinois. These highly productive fields are the roots from which the White Eagle Club arose to bring an entirely new dimension in fashionable residences and recreation to the Aurora-Naperville corridor.

White Eagle Golf Club ... the first Arnold Palmer designed golf course in the Chicago land area... a fitting reflection of its designer. Having molded the course from open farmland, Arnold Palmer designed a links-style golf course in the Scottish tradition featuring rolling mounds, water hazards, challenging sand traps, dunes, ridges, gullies, and hollows. Having always believed that everyone should be able to enjoy the game of golf, yet realizing that we each need a challenge, Mr. Palmer's first Chicago land course can be as challenging as you desire to compete with yourself. From the gold tees, the course is almost 7,200 yards; yet from the red tees, the course plays at just less than 5,200 yards. Arnold Palmer designed the course for all skill levels. An additional 9 holes, also designed by Arnold Palmer, opened in 1995 to expand the challenge and success of the Golf Course. To assure high grass quality, the entire course is fully irrigated, including the roughs.

The Williamsburg-styled clubhouse must be seen to be believed. Its 51,000 square feet includes private, fine dining rooms and a club lounge, in addition to banquet facilities for parties of up to 350 guests. The men and women's locker rooms are of similar design, featuring locker cubicles with private shower and vanity facilities. Exercise equipment, along with whirlpools and saunas, are actively used by the membership. Even Arnold Palmer was amazed at the high quality and convenience afforded to members when he first inspected the finished product.
