Members of Crystal Tree Golf and Country Club share a proud tradition. It is one which encompasses the love of a sport which dates back to the founding of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of Saint Andrews and beyond.
The membership of Crystal Tree Golf and Country club considers the Club to be one of Orland Park's best kept secrets. Established in 1989, our Club has developed its own traditions with the building of an exceptional golfing facility and the creation of an atmosphere in which every member feels welcome and at home.
Crystal Tree was founded with the notion that a fine golf course community was needed on Chicago's South Side. Orland Park had a number of nice public facilities in the late 1980's, but no private golf clubs. Jack Daley was working for developer Gene Corley and is originally credited with finding the site for the club and surrounding community, which was then owned by the Andrew Corporation.
The Club officially opened in January of 1990 for dining and clubhouse use. The first round of golf was played in April of 1990. Over the years, a number of golf activities have included a variety of personalities including ChiChi Rodriguez, Ray Floyd, Peter Jacobson, Mike Ditka and Walter Payton.
Golf
The original objective for the design of the golf course of Crystal Tree Golf and Country Club was to produce what all great courses have.... A special combination of golfing values and visual aesthetics, a course that would give all golfers a special sense of excitement, challenge and exhilaration.
The Robert Trent Jones Jr. signature designed course was designed to provide golfing challenges for all levels of ability. Multiple tee locations and pin positions have created golf holes that are enjoyable for the high handicap player as well as a challenging test of golf for the very best players. Each hole was designed to harmonize with its natural surroundings, therefore, giving us a golf course that feels and looks like an integral part of the natural landscape. The bunkering, fairway contouring and green surfaces all have free flowing, harmonious lines that blend naturally with the surrounding landscape.
Crystal Tree Golf and Country Club's course has the distinction of being a great test of golf that provides enjoyment to all that have the privilege to play.
