A Braniger Development first opened in 1970; Indian Lakes Estates & country club was the first golf community in Northern Illinois.

Based on recommendations from the PGA, the greens and tees at Indian Lakes' two par-72 golf courses - recently utilized for U.S. Open qualifying- were improved for the 1996 season. Each hole was laser-measured by PGA representatives for accurate tee-to-hole distances for men's, women's and championship tees. The remodeled Golf Shop now includes an expanded line of golf equipment and clothing.
